lolz.
after posting abt PSLE,
i've got a lot of remarks.
yes, i must admit,
thanks to passerby,
i have changed my views almost entirely abt PSLE.
and i have become well,
more positive over it.
it's not that bad after all.
but i'm interested to know who passerby is. *winks*
ok shall post views.

From Passerby: DSA is not related to PSLE except that the student which gets through must reach a certain score. Anyway, so what if the student gets rejected? She/he was rejected because of the strength they used for DSA. They can still work hard to get good results and get into their dream school. I know of somebody that actually did not do as well as they expected but that pushed him on to work harder to prove that he can do as well as those who did better in the PSLE. The main thing is to be able to accept the results and continue working harder. PSLE also should not put low-income families at a disadvantage. As long as the child works hard and know that she/ he did their best, no one really cares about whether they had any mock exam papers. Further more, these papers are bought by parents who want their children to do well. THAT is actually the real stress in my opinion. Lastly, I agree that PSLE puts some stress on children but it is needed. Think, what if PSLE is 'removed'. The next national exam the pupils will take will most likely be their 'A' levels! (Think about IP schools) If children are not 'exposed' to this stress now, it will be harder to adjust for the national exam as some of them are quite relaxed with school exams. From my personal experience, some of them still sing/play before the exam. With PSLE, they will get to know that this type of behaviour is not acceptable and they must learn to be serious. You can read about the purpose of PSLE at http://www.seab.gov.sg/SEAB/psle/generalInfo.html and hopefully, realise that your opinion is a bit shallow. (No offence though, as this is my own view. Sorry about the order of the tags, just scroll from the bottom to the top)

Claire: Oh, and if you think that 12 years old is too young to be judged in that manner, then you'll probably say that Sec 4 will be too young too. But I strongly agree that your opinion is the same as mine.

My conclusion: Well, it's not too bad after all to have PSLE, and I kinda think it's fun, cause we usually don't have major exams like this, and I'm kinda interested to know how the experience is like. Anyway, it'll prepare me for the other major exams as well. I would sincerely like to thank Passerby for knocking some sense into me, and Claire for posting her views.

This 'debate' is now closed, but if you are interested to bring up the topic again, please do tell me @ the cbox. thanks.

Friday, November 28, 2008

hello everyone,
today i would like to post my views on PSLE.
yes, i know,
you're probably groaning,
argh, my parents are talking about it everyday.
and now way has to tak abt it.

well,
anyway,
i want my views to be known.

first,
i would like to state that the PSLE gives unnecessary stress to people who don't need it.
in other words,
it is not good for the mental well being of a 12 year old student.
and if you ask me,
12 year olds are not supposed be cooped up in a study room,
studying their heads off.
well,
most of them are too young to understand what's going on,
here i would like to stress
that some people develop much later then other kids.
late-developers, i would say.

secondly,
i would like to say that the PSLE puts too much stress on teachers and parents too.
the teachers have to sacrifice their free time to conduct remedials or supplementary for their students, with high hopes that at least one of them would be able to be a top-scorer.
as for the parents,
they have to buy mock exam papers and assesment books for their children,
and families who are financially challenged would be at a disadvantage.

thirdly,
12 year olds are too young to be judged academically.
the PSLE score gives them an indicator, which may be false, on whether they are clever or not.
this, again, would not help in developing a confident child with a high self-esteem.
and whether they are placed in a good sec sch also gives them another indicator.

fourthly,
if the child goes through the DSA programme offered by sec schs, and gets rejected,
he or she is most probably going to think that,
"oh, i'm a lousy pig, which is why the sch rejected me."
this would not be helpful in bringing up a child.

that's all,
if you have your own views,
and DARE to share with other people,
shout it out on the CBOX,
and i wil post it.

1. do you have secrets?
- Yes; but I'm not telling you.

2. how do you explain love?
- Love is any of a number of emotions and experiences related to a sense of strong affection. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure ("I loved that meal") to intense interpersonal attraction ("I love my girlfriend"). This diversity of meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states. As an abstract concept, love usually refers to a deep, ineffable feeling of tenderly caring for another person. Even this limited conception of love, however, encompasses a wealth of different feelings, from the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love to the nonsexual emotional closeness of familial and platonic love to the profound oneness or devotion of religious love. Love in its various forms acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships and, owing to its central psychological importance, is one of the most common themes in the creative arts.

yea all kinds of questions.
and i answered them. duh.
toilet was downright horrible.
just a drain,
no door.
everyone can see each other.

at 11am,
we got out from the class and went to the Li Guang Qian memorial hall (which is his old home) and went to Guang Qian sec sch. not very interesting. slept with erin, fang yi, tracy in villa.

help us pay for the rent of the cycles.
went to sleep in villa.

DAY 5

didn't go to class as usual
cos me and erin was the emcees for the bye bye concert that day.
so we all kept on prac.
argh.
after that bb concert very nice.
clarence was like in the front row,
for almost all the performances and he didn't freak out.
after the concert,

and went to some dinner prepared for us.
